Foil dinners are a long time favorite over the fire. They can be made ahead of time before you
get to your camping destination, can be tossed onto the fire to be cooked while you do other things
and require very little cleanup.

The foil dinner that I have made since I was a kid is pretty basic. It has some hamburger, vegetables,
rice, and seasonings. Even though it may be cold outside where you are, winter is a great time to try
something new with foil dinners. Just make them as you normally would and pop them into the oven if you
can’t get to your firepit or go camping right now.

Here are a few ideas to get you started. I’ve put a bunch more on Outdoor Cooking Magic at 12 Ways to Spice Up Foil Dinners (http://www.outdoorcookingmagic.com/12-ways-to-spice-up-foil-dinners/)

Use different meats instead of hamburger. Steak, chicken, and kielbasa will give you quite a different foil dinner.

Try different spices or seasonings. Add onion soup mix to the foil dinner. Use garlic cloves, Mrs. Dash, or chili powder. You probably have a variety of seasonings right in your own kitchen. Give them a try.

How about liquid seasonings? Heinz 57, A1 Steak Sauce, teriyaki Sauce, or Italian dressing will give your foil dinner a new taste.

Fruits can be a great addition. Try pineapple with chicken, lemon slices with fish, or apple slices with pork.
